Abstract
As organizations implement software reuse programs in order to achieve the benefits related to productivity, quality and costs, they must be able to monitor the amount of reuse over time, provide a basis for determining the effects of reuse on productivity, quality and costs, measure their progress and identify which reuse strategies are more effective. Thus, measurement was a vital role in this context. Nevertheless, even being software reuse measurement discussed widely in the literature, in general, the research concentrates in issues related to measurement in source code. In this way, from a practitioner viewpoint is important to examine, in more detail, other important issues such as: what software reuse practices, objectives and measurements are being used in industry? What is the perceived value of the software reuse measurement? Thus, in order to answer questions like them, this talk presents results of a survey based on a rigorous application of expert opinion to investigate important issues related to software reuse measurement. The research present new directions and reinforces previous issues identified in previous work in the area.
