Keynote - Applying open source development in product line engineering

Frank van der Linden
Partnerships projects, CTO Office, Philips Healthcare

Abstract:

Open source has shown to be an effective way to do distributed development. This tutorial shows how to profit from the open source model in product line development. Inner source is a way to exploit the advantages of distributed development in the open source way, but in a wish to avoid process and organization problems originating from the distributed nature of many product line development organizations. This model is in use within Philips healthcare, and other industries. Open source development shows that good software can be developed by an inherently distributed group. The key note explains the benefits product line development can have from inner source development, in particular on the product-line development quality.
